Ricks
Saddle Shop began in 1978 when Rick Wills opened the 1000
sq.ft. Ricks Saddle Shop in Englishtown, NJ. The store
began by selling veterinary supplies and barn supplies, but
eventually expanded to include feed and some Western tack.
The Cream Ridge, NJ store was opened in 1984 with a similar
selection of products. As the years went on Rick saw the need
to expand his selection of tack and clothing with a special
emphasis on English riding products which seemed to be in
high demand. The square footage of the stores, though they
had expanded through the years would not allow enough expansion
to make what Rick would consider a good representation of
products.
In 1992, after
the possibility of purchasing a larger store in the Englishtown
area became difficult for an assortment of reasons the decision
was made to purchase another store just down the block from
the first Englishtown store. Feed and veterinary supplies
would remain at the original store, then tack and apparel
would be moved and expanded at the new store on Main Street
in Englishtown. The success of the new store selling primarily
English equipment and apparel along with some Western equipment
prompted the acquisition of Ricks Heritage Saddlery
in West Chester, PA when the opportunity became available
in 1993. The two tack and apparel stores today provide a selection
of saddles (over 3000) tack, and apparel, that is truly world
class.
In 1999 we began
selling products online. On our website you can find a large
selection of products including used saddles, Breyer horses,
Ariat clothing, Lettia saddle pads and all the latest in horse
themed gifts. Our products are not limited to what you find
online so dont be afraid to call!
In 2005 Ricks
debuted the new Equestrian Superstore in Cream Ridge. This
new store has an education center, 1200 sq.ft. dedicated to
learning about horses, and promoting interest in horses. This
area is being used for seminars, club meetings, lectures,
product trunk shows, horse themed parties, etc. The new store
also has a fenced in area for saddle fittings and demonstrations
as well as a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse for feed. The main showroom
is a 12,000 sq. ft. space for both English and Western tack
and apparel as well as veterinary supplies, barn supplies,
gift items, treats, work clothes, etc.
